A Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Blockchain Technology is set-up at Gujarat Technological University. This centre is set-up with financial assistance from Education Department, Government of Gujarat.

Following are the objectives of the centre:

• To facilitate in building proof of concepts for use of blockchain technology in various Government and Non-Government applications to bring the transparency in overall governance system.
• To impart comprehensive education, training, and research infrastructure to the various stakeholders of the university as per the nations requirements in the emerging area of blockchain technology.
• To prepare the technocrats in blockchain technology as per the need of employers for implementing blockchain technology in the various applications.
• Trigger research & development in blockchain technology to address challenges of development, deployment, interoperability, scalability, security, and privacy. • Evolve a roadmap for trusted digital applications, catering various challenges towards digital technology adoption.
• Create a sandbox environment for development & testing of blockchain applications.
• Contribute towards development of standards in Blockchain technology.

Considering the widespread applications of Blockchain Technology in Healthcare, Banking, Education, Agriculture sectors, this centre will play a vital role to provide secure and transparent services to the society and government.
